Introducing the project team

While many people gave their time, voice, support and energy to the project, some have to be mentioned as being those ones without whom this project would not have been possible.

Ruth Aman is responsible for around 80% of the transcriptions that were made within the project. Although she is quite busy as an Early Childhood Education teacher and with her own five children, she spent long nights with laptop, headphones and flashlight in front of her house in the school area of Kavudemki.

Fidelia Amalgethu fulfulled multiple roles in the project: As a transcriber, she specialized in multiparty-conversations. Moreover, she did many recordings on her own, resulting in a collection of stories, songs, group conversations and monologues.

Ambros Vulalsavau and Florence Ngunanbetgrio were the first people to join the project in 2022, starting right away with a collection of jokes, stories and personal anecdotes. From there on, they offered their guidance throughout the project, sharing their knowledge about the Simbali language and community.

Angela Erki has contributed fundamentally to the Simbali language project form the first week on. A specialist in biology and modern history, she never gets tired to explore and guide through the village's inner surroundings.

Matha Tamnelin Akun is the one person that everyone is referring to for any questions regarding Simbali language. She supported the project in administration, as a grammar expert and as a text editor. Moreover, she shared many stories from her own life history as the driving force of the Simbali feminist movement.
